Lumiz FAQ2022-02-09T13:59:05+00:00
Why does my LUMIZ not light?2023-08-23T06:51:24+00:00

Cause:
A piece of plastic strip was left behind because it was torn off while removing the plastic tab. No contact can then be made with the battery.

The plastic strip is not completely removed.

Or the plastic strip is torn off.

1. Unscrew the screw from the cover.

2. Remove the cover
(it may feel slightly sticky, this is due to the silicone rim on the inside).

3. In the corner between the battery and the contact point is the remaining piece of plastic strip, please remove it.

4. Screw the cover back on. Now the Solar’s contact with the battery will work for storing energy and lighting the LED in the dark.

How does the solar work?2022-02-09T14:08:16+00:00

Solar lighting works on the energy that comes from sunlight. The solar energy is stored in a rechargeable battery. This energy is used to light up the LED when it gets dark.
All LUMIZ have a rechargeable AAA battery in which the solar energy is stored.

What material has been used for the LUMIZ?2022-02-09T14:09:16+00:00

Tyvek is a synthetic material that consists of HDPE fibers. The material has the best properties provided by paper, foil and textiles. It is very strong, weather resistant, durable and colorfast.

Can the LUMIZ be used indoors?2022-02-09T14:11:15+00:00

Yes, but you have to take into account that no direct sunlight will fall on the LUMIZ indoors. As a result, the battery will not be able to store energy and the LED light will not burn / not for long / less strongly in the evening. Direct sunlight on the solar panel gives the best result.

Tip: a normal AAA battery also fits in the LUMIZ. The LUMIZ will burn in a dark environment.

At dark it will come into effect, during (sun) light it will not be charged.

Why does the LUMIZ not have an on/off button?2022-02-09T14:12:05+00:00

LUMIZ does not have an on/off button. The built-in switch itself controls the on and off mechanism based on light (off) or dark (on).

What do I do if my LUMIZ does not work?2022-02-09T14:26:09+00:00

In order to solve your problem, we would like to ask you to check the following points:

  • Did you remove the plastic tab?
  • Have you checked whether the battery is properly placed in the holder?
  • When purchased, the battery energy will not be fully charged. When this energy has been consumed, the battery must be charged by hanging/putting the solar in sunlight, so that the battery can recharge. After charging the battery, you can test whether the LED light comes on by placing your hand on the solar.
  • If you want to hang the LUMIZ in a tree, make sure that the LUMIZ is not hanging directly under the leaves of the tree. As a result, the solar does not receive enough sunlight for a good and longer operating time of the LED light. The same applies to roof covers, the sunlight does not reach the solar panel here.
  • The solar panel must be placed at the top of the LUMIZ so that the sunlight can fall on it properly.

The Solar is defective, can I replace it?2022-03-23T07:24:16+00:00

If your problem is not solved after reading the tips under the heading “What do I do if my LUMIZ does not work?”, it is possible to replace your defective solar module.
Below is an instruction video about changing the solar module.

Tip: if the ring is too tight, a pair of disposable/latex gloves will give a better grip.

How do I clean the LUMIZ?2023-03-24T11:42:37+00:00

It is important that the solar panel is cleaned with a soft damp cloth, so that the absorption of the solar energy remains at maximum capacity. The Tyvek material can also be wiped using a soft damp cloth if necessary.
When you want to store the LUMIZ, for example in the winter, you have to remove the battery from the solar module. Leaving the battery in place can cause it to leak and damage the electronic components.
Tip: replace the battery once a year, its effectiveness slowly decreases with charging and discharging. A new battery once in a while and you can continue to enjoy your LUMIZ to the max!

Please consider the environment and dispose of the battery via the appropriate disposal points, this may not be disposed of with the residual waste.

How long can the LUMIZ be switched on?2022-02-09T14:27:40+00:00

Under optimal conditions, the LUMIZ can also burn for 6-8 hours with a charging time of 6-8 hours from direct sunlight. The light may decrease in power after 5-6 hours of use.
In the summer the sun shines more often and for longer, which means the LUMIZ can absorb more energy and therefore burn longer than in the other seasons. If you hang the LUMIZ under a tree in the summer, it may receive less sun compared to other seasons, because the light is partly blocked by the leaves on the trees.

Tip: hang the LUMIZ lower in the tree, so that the light is not blocked by the leaves. Or hang the LUMIZ in a place where the sun can shine on the solar panel during the day and hang it back in the evening.

The LUMIZ will also be able to burn on sunny winter days, although the sun is lower and it will light up for shorter periods.
